The Kennel Club will be breaking new ground with its involvement in this year’s CLA Game Fair at Belvoir Castle in Grantham, Leicestershire from 22nd – 24th July 2005. For the first time ever, the Kennel Club will be hosting a heat of the prestigious Scruffts competition at the event, and will also have a complete programme of activities to entertain the public.
Scruffts is the Kennel Club’s nationwide competition for crossbreed dogs, and owners are invited to bring their canine companions along on Sunday 24th July. This fun contest will take place between 2.00pm and 3.00pm and entrants are advised to register upon arrival at the show.
Scruffts comprises four individual classes: Child’s Best Friend, Prettiest Bitch, Most Handsome Dog and Golden Oldie, and the lucky winners will be invited to compete in the final, which takes place at Discover Dogs at Earls Court Two, London, on Sunday 13th November 2005.
The Scruffts heat will be just part of a full programme of canine activities taking place in a special Kennel Club ring on all three days of the show. Visitors to the show on each day will be able to see events such as obedience, agility and the increasingly popular heelwork to music, making it an ideal attraction for all the family. Dog owners are also invited to bring their pets along to try to gain their Bronze Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme award.
The Kennel Club stand will also be present at the CLA Game Fair for the first time. Staff will be on hand to answer a range of canine queries from exhibitors, competitors and the public and will be promoting the Kennel Club’s many activities and services.
