Woman dies rescuing Golden Retriever

A woman has died after trying to save her golden retriever dog from the waters of a weir in north Wales.

Vanessa Louise Williams and her partner from Bridgwater in Somerset got into difficulties in the River Tryweryn near Bala, Gwynedd last week. Ms Williams was found dead by rescuers after she tried to save her pet dog which had been following balls into the water.

Desperate attempts were made to try to revive her on the riverbank, but she later died.
The couple had two retrievers with them, which are now being looked after.
