Butchers honour first Employee of the Year

A committed employee at Crick-based Butcher’s Pet Care has received a major award, voted for by his peers.

John Thompson, who has worked in the factory for 10 years, has been crowned Butcher’s first Employee of the Year.

The annual award has been launched in honour of past employee John O’Connor, who died in November 2003.

Chairman Graham Baker said: "This is about recognising and rewarding an employee who has shown dedication to the company throughout the year, gone above and beyond the call of duty, and commands the respect and has the friendship of all his colleagues. John Thompson is enthusiastic and works hard, so he fully deserves this award, which is voted for by all Butcher’s employees."

John added: "I was thrilled to receive the title, especially because I know that my colleagues have been voting for me. It’s such a surprise and as the first Employee of the Year, it’s a real privilege."
