At its meeting on 15 February 2005, the Kennel Club General Committee approved the recognition of the Small Munsterlander on the Imported Breeds Register in the Gundog Group, with effect from 1 April 2005.
Classification of the breed in a sub-group for working purposes will be considered in due course. The breed may not be exhibited at Kennel Club licensed shows, as a Breed Standard has not been issued.
The breed was produced from a cross between the Large Munsterlander and a continental spaniel in the part of the last century. It is about three inches smaller than its ‘Large’ cousin which came into Britain in 1971 is brown and white in colour.
