THE CHOW Chow Club held a special party during the lunch interval of their recent open show to make a presentation to Mrs Vi Elsworth marking her retirement from the position of Club Secretary after 40 years sterling service.

Vi joined the Club committee in the 1950s and after a spell as Cup Steward became Secretary in 1965, since when she has, in the words of Chairman Sheila Jakeman, been a source of inspiration and advice to all in the breed.

Vi was presented with a wildlife study by Stuart Mallard and, to prove the truth of the saying that ‘they deserve a medal’, a replica club medal modelled on those awar-ded in the early days and suita-bly engraved!

At the AGM following the show the mem-bership had no hesitation in electing Vi to the position of President which had lain vacant since the death in 2004 of Mr Gordon Watkins.
