All About Dogs salutes the service dog

Now in its sixth year the hugely successful All About Dogs event, which is organised by the renowned Essex Dog Display Team, is now dedicating a section of the show to the achievements of service dogs.

All About Dogs is the country's largest outdoor canine event and this year is taking place on the weekend of 14-15 May, at the Brentwood Centre Showground in Brentwood, in Essex. Service canine sections invited to attend the event include regional Constabularies, the Military, Customs and Excise, the Prisons and Fire Service, British Transport Police, the Ministry of Defence and Search and Rescue organisations.

All participating groups will take part in a parade in the main arena, where they will receive commemorative plaques, to be presented by the Right Honourable Lord Petre - the Lord Lieutenant of Essex. Awards include Outstanding Achievement, Bravery and Devotion to Duty.

Television personality and Crufts presenter, Peter Purves will introduce each group and speak of their achievements. The public are able to meet the dogs and their handlers, and learn all about the role of the service dog. Drontal, Britain's leading manufacturer of worming tablets will be sponsoring the service dog section of the event.

Nomination entries should be sent to: Service Dog Awards, Pepperell House, 44 High Street, Brentwood, Essex, CM14 4AJ by 31 March 2005.
