Guide Dogs seek brood bitch carers

THE GUIDE Dogs for the Blind Association is searching for volunteer Brood Bitch Holders to look after its breeding bitches as pets within the family home and take responsibility for the day to day care and welfare of the bitch.

The bitches are mated approximately once a year at the Breeding Centre and they give birth to their litter in the brood bitch holder's home.

Applications are invited from dog lovers with a calm and caring disposition, not in full time employment and able to devote time to a bitch, particularly when she has a litter.

Applicants will need to live within approximately 40 miles or 1 hour's drive of the Breeding Centre (near Leamington Spa) and be willing to transport the bitch to and from the Breeding Centre as required

Guide Dogs supplies all essential equipment and provides comprehensive advice, educational information and support throughout. All feeding and veterinary expenses are also covered throughout the duration of the bitch's working life.
