The Ashford Valley Hunt is holding its 7th annual Working Terrier and Lurcher Show on Easter Sunday, April 16th.
Once again, the event will be at Charing Racecourse near Ashford, Kent, opposite the Swan Public House on the A20. As ever, Ron Spicer and Sue Palmer have organised this ever-popular event, and this year have gained qualifiers for more Championship Shows that ever before.
The Terrier Show is a qualifier for the Countryside Alliance International Terrier Championship, the National Working Terrier Federation Championship, the Countryman’s Weekly Champion of Champions and the East Anglian Champion of Champions. The Lurcher Show is being organised by Sue, and is also a qualifier for the Countryman’s Weekly Champion of Champions, the East Anglian Champion of Champions, and of course the National Lurcher and Racing Club final which takes place at Chatsworth.
There are over 20 Terrier and 16 Lurcher classes organised. The classes are for all ages of dog, and rosettes to third place will be awarded in each class.
Following the show classes, fun will be had by all with the chance to watch and participate in terrier racing. Hot refreshments will be available throughout the day, and there will be a raffle to win a bottle of whisky. Following the successful introduction last year of a Family Dog Show, it has been decided to hold the show again.
There will be 14 classes, so bring your family, friends - not forgetting your canine ones! – and join in the fun. You never know, this year’s Champion may be sitting in front of your fire now! For more information contact Ron Spicer on 01233 712358
