Averil in the spotlight in ‘Star Out Of School’!

Averil Cawthera-Purdy

THE CANINE world’s very own Averil Cawthera-Purdy had a taste of tv stardom last Monday when she appeared in a new series from Teachers’ TV which aims to showcase the hitherto unsuspected talents of teachers outside the classroom.

Averil’s ‘day job’ is Head of Learning but readers will know her better from the ringside at shows as an exhibitor and breeder of Samoyeds and Poms, as well as her judging career.

"It was a complete surprise to be approached by Teachers’ TV to take part in this series," said Averil. "I have been passionate about dog showing since I was very young and have balanced my time between my hobby and my other ‘love’, teaching. I am delighted to have this opportunity to show people what I do."

Andrew Bethell, Chief Executive of Teachers’ TV said: "So many of our teachers spend their time outside the classroom taking part in truly fascinating hobbies and we wanted to showcase some of the best. They all have one thing in common – energy and commitment to both their teaching and their hobbies."

‘Stars out of School’ is presented by comedian Rob Deering and profiles teachers from across the UK who achieve great things in completely different fields from teaching.

‘Stars out of School – Show Dogs’ featuring Averil was broadcast at 12.15 pm on Monday 17th April and after this date is available to stream and download from the Teachers’ TV website at www.teachers.tv.
