Holidays With Dogs

These days, more and more of us are opting to holiday with our dogs. With the advent of Pet Passports and more holiday homes and hotels becoming ‘dog friendly’, there often seems little excuse for leaving them behind. In fact, taking your dogs with you can enable you to enjoy your holiday even more.

Across the country and abroad, there are plenty of forward-thinking establishments happy to make your dog welcome from dog-friendly hotels to private cottages and B+B’s. Why not try camping? For him it’s just one long walk and endless time by your side and for you it means added security and a great way to bond with fellow holiday-makers.

There are plenty of ways the whole family can holiday with their dog so get planning, that well earned summer break is only round the corner!

Travel-Rite
for Happier Travelling

Travel-Rite4Soothes the stomach, especially before and during travel without causing drowsiness or sedation

Many pets, particularly young pups can be poor travellers, which can ruin a family day out or even make short runs to the shops a difficult and stressful time. The level of upset can vary greatly between animals with signs including anxiety, drooling and sickness. Over time this can become a conditioned response where some pets react simply in anticipation of a car journey. This may take a little time to overcome if it is not addressed early.

Travel-Rite is a natural herbal supplement based on ginger, specially formulated to help your pet overcome travelling difficulties by soothing the stomach before and during travel without causing drowsiness or sedation. It can be particularly useful for young puppies not yet used to car travel.

Travel-Rite4 is based on natural ingredients, with no starch, soya, dairy products, artificial colour or preservatives used in its manufacture. This ensures it is ideal for pets that may be prone to digestive disturbances or those on a vegetarian diet. Travel-Rite can be given just 10 to 15 minutes before travelling helping to calm the stomach before travel upset threatens.

Sometimes your pet needs a little extra care and support when travelling. At these times adding some extra comforts can make all the difference to their overall well being.

Cute and cuddly and very strong, SnugglePuppies are the ideal comforter for your pet. Made especially for pets, they have a battery-operated heart that has a real-feel beat and two 20-Hour Disposable Heatpacks providing steady, comforting warmth.

D.A.P.® Spray can help to ease fear
of travel in dogs

D.A.P.® is a synthetic version of dog appeasing pheromone which is secreted by the sebaceous glands of the intermammary sulcus in the lactating bitch. Their function is to reassure the offspring, calming the puppies at times of stress and providing reassurance, particularly in unknown environments and when encountering novel experiences.

Research has shown that the reassuring properties of these pheromones persist even into adult age.

D.A.P.®, resulting from veterinary research, reproduces all the properties of the natural appeasing pheromones of the bitch. It is manufactured by CEVA Animal Health Ltd and available in two forms D.A.P.® plug-in diffuser and D.A.P.® pump spray.

The versatile D.A.P.® spray has been proven to aid fear of travel and can help reduce signs of travel sickness such as salivating, whimpering, nausea and vocalisation. It can be sprayed in the car, in the carrier, in the travelling cage, on bedding and in kennels.

D.A.P. ® Spray should be applied at least 10 to 15 minutes prior to introducing the dog into the car or the travelling cage. Once at the destination, D.A.P. ® can then be sprayed in the area to be occupied by the pet. In addition to the spray, the D.A.P. ® Diffuser can be plugged into an electrical outlet and will deliver the pheromone 24 hours a day for approximately 30 days.

D.A.P. ® Spray is presented in a 60ml bottle available through veterinary surgeries at the suggested retail price of £17.25 (exc VAT). One vial is sufficient for 50 applications at the recommended dose.
