A CASE of TB has been confirmed in a dog in the south west of England, after a report that as many as 250,000 badgers across Britain could be infected with the bovine tuberculosis bug Mycobacterium bovis, according to former government veterinary surgeon John Gallagher.
However, of greater concern was that the disease appeared to be establishing itself in a number of domesticated species other than cattle. As well as the confirmed canine case, there are also confirmed outbreaks in 22 cats.
