Dog-free zones planned

LANCASHIRE MAY be the first county to introduce dog free zones, according to recent reports.

Proposals to ban dogs from areas in some parks in Preston - including playgrounds - are under consideration by local councillors. The plans are part of a "dog review" by the city council, which also includes on-the-spot fines for fouling.

Councillor Anthony Gornall said the idea was to stop children coming into contact with dog dirt left by "irresponsible owners".

Planned dog-free sections also inc bowling greens and recreation areas.

"We want to encourage people to be responsible when they walk their dogs on Preston's parks." said Mr Gornall.
