It was a great shock to hear of Madge's death, as only a few days before, I had received a Christmas card from her.

All her friends will send their deepest sympathy to her family, and she will be greatly missed by us all.

Madge was such a very charming person, who always had a kind word for everyone. Both she and her late husband, Ron, were Championship show judges of Golden Retrievers, and Madge was President of the Midland Golden Retriever Club. Their Nortonwood Golden Retrievers had great influence on the breed for themselves and for others.

Their first title holder, Ch.Nortonwood Faunus (a Christopher son) was a very prepotent sire, producing 19 Champions in this country. Other successful sires carrying this affix were Sh.Ch.Nortonwood Checkmate, Sh.Ch.Westley Munroe of Nortonwood, Sh.Ch.Nortonwood Sylvanus and Sh.Ch. Jokeba Jasper of Nortonwood. Bitch title holders were Nortonwood Canella and Nnell Charade of Nortonwood and the Watkins’ made up Sh.Ch.Nortonwood Marx.
