From ‘Vulnerable’ to ‘Viable’
British & Irish Dog Breeds Preservation Trust open forum - Sunday June 11

On Sunday June 11th the British and Irish Dog Breeds Preservation Trust will be holding an “open” forum titled “From Vulnerable to Viable” - calling together breeders, owners exhibitors and enthusiasts of all of the 29 breeds initially identified by The Kennel Club as being potentially “vulnerable”, so that we can discuss how we can all work together for the long term benefit of these historic and wonderful British Dog Breeds

The Trust extends an open invitation to all breed enthusiasts. Simply by all coming to together to talk to each and to listen to each other and share ideas and experiences, we will be taking a positive step towards securing the future of our Vulnerable Breeds. There will be official representatives from The Kennel Club and members of its VNB Committee together with committee members from many of the breed clubs whose breeds are under threat.

The breeds initially identified by The Kennel Club as being potentially “Vulnerable” are: (in alphabetical order) Bloodhounds, Cardigan Welsh Corgis. Clumber Spaniels, Curly Coated Retrievers, Dandie Dinmont Terriers, Deerhounds, English Toy Terriers (Black & Tan), Field Spaniels, Glen of Imaal Terriers, Gordon Setters, Greyhounds, Irish Red & White Setters, Irish Terriers, Irish Water Spaniels, Kerry Blue Terriers, King Charles Spaniels, Lakeland Terriers, Lancashire Heelers, Manchester Terriers, Norwich Terriers, Otterhounds. Sealyham Terriers, Skye Terriers, Smooth Collies, Smooth Fox Terriers, Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers, Sussex Spaniels. Welsh Terriers.

The forum will be run on an informal basis. There will be no top table and no rigid agenda. .Although the Trust realise we cannot solve all of the problems facing our Vulnerable Breeds in just one day; they hope that we may at least identify some of the main problems these breeds face and formulate plans for a secure and sustainable future.

The day is completely funded by the British & Irish Dog Breeds Preservation Trust and will include sandwiches and tea and coffee, all we ask is a donation.

“From Vulnerable to Viable” is to be held at Shenstone Village Hall, Barns Road, Shenstone, WS14 0LT on Sunday June 11 from 10.00am – 4.00pm.
