Mayhew launches new website

The Mayhew Animal Home is delighted to unveil its all-new website, redesigned from the ground up to help animal lovers stay in touch with its work and find all the information they need quickly and easily.

The new website,, is the latest in a series of innovative and proactive steps taken by The Mayhew to ensure that the companion animals in its guardianship receive the very highest levels of care and attention. A unique feature of the website is the webcam page, on which the public can view the animals at play (and sleep!). New ‘Adopt, Meet and Care’ pages demystify the adoption process for those looking for a companion animal, as well as delivering essential information on the care of animals. And ‘Specific Needs Animals’ makes certain that even those animals that have had less than a good start in life are brought into the spotlight for potential re-homing.

Furthermore, the website makes it easy for both individuals and organisations to get involved in The Mayhew in whichever way they choose. Whether it’s as a potential volunteer, sponsor, adopter, donor or friend, the new website is designed to be intuitive for visitors, guiding them straightforwardly towards and through the information they require. The website also features the Buy A Brick initiative, dedicated to the raising of funds to build the new theatre block, which will replace their old operating facilities and allow The Mayhew to expand their services within the community.

The Mayhew’s General Manager, Caroline Yates, explains: ‘The new website will assist us in making the most of our commitment to setting the standards in animal welfare. As well as being a vital tool in the dissemination of our aims and beliefs, our exposure on the internet has proved an exciting means of generating real interest from all areas of the UK and beyond. We have developed new friends of The Mayhew from places as far-flung as Peru and adopters too have come from Billericay and John O’Groats . With up to 13,000 unique visitors a month we are very much looking forward to charting the extents of our outreach with this new and improved site.’
