As always, entry to the show and car parking for exhibitors and those travelling with them is free so the £19.50 first entry fee is exceptional value for money. Caravans are also welcome and there is no increase in fee in 2006. Southern Counties accepts payments by cheque or credit card but does not accept faxed entries, as they are often not clear.
The show is exceptionally easy to get to at the Junction of the M4 and the A34 in West Berkshire.
Entries can be made ‘on line’. It is very easy for anyone with access to the Internet and there is no extra charge for this service. Not only does it save postage costs it also ensures that exhibitors have an immediate confirmation of their entry. Just go to www.dog.biz, register and click on Southern Counties to see the schedule and access the entry form. Once you have registered you will be able to enter shows much more quickly as all your details and those of your dogs are retained on the secure server, you do not have to enter everything again next time.
Alternatively, you can print off the entry form, complete it as usual and send it and off with your cheque.
The show will also be a Mecca for Juniors. As well as the usual formal classes for the Young Kennel Club and Good Citizen tests, the YKC is holding a rally over the three days – details from Pat Duffy on 01775 840 295. The UK Handlers will be holding their annual Handling competitions on the Saturday and Sunday with the usual Dinner and Dance on the Saturday night – details from Jacqui Hurley on 01980 862 600. Information about both events is in the schedule of course and at www.dog.biz. If you have time there is also a Companion Dog Show in aid of the Kennel Club Charitable Trust on all three days starting at 2pm! Further information from Hannah Thompson on 01933 413 140
Our apologies to Flatcoated Retriever exhibitors. They were supposed to have a Veteran class and they have a change of judge too as Mrs Griffiths is going to have a hip operation. We are delighted that Carole Coode is available to judge. Unfortunately, Pat Chapman is not available for Hungarian Pulis. Your judge will be Jeff Luscott.
Full details of classes, judges and an entry form appear in our 31st March edition so you do not need to send for a schedule.
If you need a schedule and entry form they can be downloaded from www.dog.biz or you can order one by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org . But don’t forget that if you can e-mail you can just as easily enter ‘on-line at www.dog.biz. Schedules are available by post from the Honorary Secretary, Angela Cavill, Langham House, Ham Common, Richmond upon Thames, Surrey TW10 7JB or telephone 07905 162 190. Just leave your name and address, speaking slowly and clearly.
