PAT Dogs launch new initiative
‘Paws and Trainers’ sponsored walks

At Crufts 2006, Pets As Therapy launched their new initiative for 2006, the ‘Paws and Trainers’ sponsored walks pack, which as its name suggests gives full details of how, when and where to organise a sponsored walk for the Charity, involving your canine friends.

The pack has been put together with the help of several people within the Charity who have had experience in the past with these events, and gives a step by step guide to the organisation of these walks from advertising and land permission letters, press releases, to certificates.

PAT Dogs explained:

‘These walks are not exclusively for Pets As Therapy Supporters, we would welcome anyone who wishes to raise funds for the Charity and keep, or get fit at the same time, to contact us and organise an event in your area. The sponsored walks organised for the Charity will be advertised on our web site so if you would like to take part in one of these events in your area, our website will keep you posted.

‘We are very fortunate to have on board as Sponsors for this new initiative, a new company – Feelwell’s who manufacture pro-biotic treats for dogs. The company have agreed to cover all printing costs for the organisers of each event, to include sponsorship forms, advertising posters, etc, which will be delivered directly to the organisers own home, together with samples of their products for all walkers who raise more than £10 for the Charity.

We will be presenting a piece of crystal, courtesy of Birkdale Crystal, to the organiser of the walk which raises the most funds for the Charity and also to the individual who raises the most funds. The winners of these two awards will be invited to attend our ‘Celebration of Top Dogs’ in November to be presented with their prize.

‘Pets As Therapy has over 3,000 current volunteers who each week with their own temperament assessed dogs and cats, visit in Mainstream and Special Needs Schools, Hospitals and Hospices, Residential and Nursing Homes as well as Day Care Centres. The Charity is also involved in working with stroke patients, those who are clinically depressed and with Phobic Children. The service that Pets As Therapy provides is very much in demand, as these animals, be it dog or cat, bring needed comfort and therapy to all they visit.
