Obituary
Bob Page - Helnlea Golden Retrievers

The Dog show scene in Scotland will take some time to come to terms with the very sudden, sad loss, at only 50, of Bob Page, who collapsed whilst walking a short distance home on 20th October.

Bob and his wife Ruth have owned and operated a rosette making business for some 10 years and supply a large number of Scottish Canine Clubs and some south of the border.

Since starting the business Bob had not shown his Golden Retrievers much but, along with Ruth, had stewarded regularly at Open & Championship shows throughout Scotland. He judged his breed at Open shows.

For numerous years he served on the Committees of Falkirk & DCS and the Golden Retriever Club of Scotland and supported Ruth in her capacities as Secretary and former Show-Secretary of these respective Clubs. He was a very competent and reliable Show Manager of GRCS.

Bob lived life to the full and apart from the dog scene, he was a serious enthusiast in the collection of antiques, Ford Capris and Northern Soul Music. He loved nothing better than a good debate and was a perfectionist in all that he undertook.

Being a great family man, Bob was very proud of his son Gary and daughter Charleen who at one time was one of Scotland’s top junior handlers. Charleen moved to work in Spain several years ago.

Bob was held in high esteem by all who knew him and this was reflected in the large turnout at the funeral which took place at Muiravonside Church, near Falkirk on 30th October.

I understand that Ruth fully intends to carry on the rosette making business. He will be sadly missed.
