Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is hosting its third ‘Walk a Dog to School Day’ on 18th October, aimed at encouraging kids, teachers and parents nationwide to trade in their Fiats for their Fidos to help raise much needed funds for the Home.
‘Walk a Dog to School Day’ is the ideal time to remind people of the benefits of dog walking, which not only helps owners and pets to keep fit but has been shown through research to help reduce stress too.
Battersea Dogs & Cats Home hopes to encourage all people in the UK to get involved. And the benefits are plentiful! All participants will be: involving the school in a creative and worthwhile activity; helping to encourage exercise for children; increasing awareness of responsible pet ownership and interaction with dogs; and raising valuable funds for the dogs and cats of Battersea Dogs & Cats Home
Fiona Healey-Hutchinson, Director of Fundraising at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home says:
‘Walk a Dog to School Day is a great chance for kids and adults to ditch the cars and get active. Absolutely anyone can take part as you don’t necessarily have to own a dog yourself – maybe a neighbour or a family friend has a dog just panting for a walk? Schools can also arrange other fundraising activities on the day such as holding a fete or fun run. Whatever you do, the dogs and cats at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home really need your support.’
