The fourth and final Championships of the season took place at the Cricket Club, Morton In Marsh on Sunday 8 October 2006, writes Carolyne Rabbitt. The weather was very well behaved and some spectators to come along and watch.
There were 126 dogs taking part in this event, they ran on a horseshoe shaped bend track of 240 yards in 9 different groups. The dogs had to run 3 – 4 races to reach a final. There were three dogs made up to a Champion at this event namely Mr & Mrs Shearing’s Summa Breeze, Mr & Mrs Heaton’s Bin Throu’t Mill and Sue Ward’s Vensuter Alaska Venture. The winners of the other groups were WCRCh (Whippet Club Racing Champion) Close To Crazy, Mr & Mrs Bullard’s Little Devil, Mr & Mrs Naylor’s Deadly Cocktail, Mr R Heaton’s WCRCh Run At Mill and making it a double for the Jennings family were WCRCh Diamond Geezer and WCRCh Big Ron. To become a champion the dogs need to win two Championship finals.
