As crime-busting canines celebrate a well-earned retirement, South Yorkshire Police are now appealing for replacement four legged helpers.
Many police dogs come in as donations from members of the public who have found boisterous German shepherd dogs too hard to control.
PC Clive Kenyon said: "If anyone has a fit young male German shepherd dog they wish to donate to the dog training school we would like to hear from you. Ideally the dogs should be between 12 and 20 months, have a confident attitude and be play motivated."
If you have a dog that you think your dog has what it takes please contact the dog training school on 0114 2964941.
