Saluki festival planned

In September 2007 The Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club has invited the world to participate in a Festival of the Saluki. The Club was formed in 1923 making it the oldest Saluki club in existence and the organisers would like everyone to return to their Saluki roots for an activity packed week.
The programme will commence on Friday, 31st August, with a Championship show held in conjunction and with guests of the City of Birmingham Canine Association. Saturday there will be a Symposium, open to all, at Jesus College, Cambridge. Sunday will be hosted by The Northern Saluki Club, at Clay Cross, Derby and will include its second Championship Show.

The Saluki cavalcade then moves south where on Monday there will be the formal opening of the Kennel Club Gallery. Attendance for this event will be by invitation only but on Wednesday 5th September the Gallery will have a special viewing, with a buffet lunch, for a maximum number of 60 people.

From Thursday, the Festival will be based at Loseley Park (for this the organisers are very much indebted to Richmond Show Society). There the Saluki or Gazelle Hound Club will hold its Championship Show. Friday is Hound Day at Richmond Championship Show and in the evening everyone will change into their posh frocks for a gala dinner and prize-giving, at The Tithe Barn, at Loseley Park.

If anyone is still standing on Saturday, they will be invited to make the short journey to Newbury for a lure trial and fun day!

Booking for the Symposium is now open. As there will be a limited amount of tickets available, priority will be given on a first come first served basis. Tickets can be purchased from Diana Allan: email:jazirat@btinternet.com or telephone 01234-708658 or can be purchased by any currency, using Pay Pal, through the SGHC Treasurer, Mr Don Everton. Please contact him at: kasra.everton@btinternet.com
