Guide Dogs' record breaking brood

Lorna, a Guide Dogs' brood bitch is looking very pleased with herself, having given birth to 15 puppies - a charity record over the past 10 years.

The black labrador lives in Tong, Shropshire with volunteer brood bitch holder Suzanne Jarvis. Lorna gave natural birth to the first 12 pups, with caesarean for the final three.

The high profile littermates are being used by Guide Dogs to promote the need to recruit new brood bitch holders. If you would like to request more information about becoming a brood bitch holder, or other volunteering work for the charity, please call Guide Dogs' contact line on 0870-727 6940.

Volunteer brood-bitch holders have the reward of knowing they are playing a major part in rearing the next generation of guide dogs, as well as having the companionship of the dog and its puppies.
