Obituary - Miss Vera Munday
Miss Vera Munday of the Yadnum Yorkshire Terriers passed away on the 30th July after her long battle with illness.
Her mother Mrs Ethel Munday started the Yadnum kennel making up champions in the 1950s and 60s. Miss Munday became a co-owner of the affix and she made up her first champion, Ch Pretty Debbie of Yadnum in 1969. The 1970s and 80s saw Ch Super Fine of Yadnum, Ch Mycariad Ragged Robin of Yadnum, Ch Robina Gay of Yadnum, Ch Azurene Moss Rose and Ch Azurene Corduroy of Yadnum, and Ch Yadnum Regal Fair all gain their titles. Her last champion was Ch Johnstounburn Gold Trim by Yadnum bred by Mrs. Hillman.
Miss Munday was made an Honorary Life Member of the Yorkshire Terrier Club having served the club as Treasurer for 26 years and in 1993 was made President of the club in acknowledgement for all her hard work and dedication. Mrs and Miss Munday both worked extremely hard rebuilding the club after the war years, Mrs Munday was Secretary from 1946 – 1958 and was helped throughout by her daughter.
Miss Munday had the honour of judging the breed at Crufts twice, an honour which has been bestowed on only four breed specialist judges; she was also an international championship show judge.
I am sure that Mrs Ethel Munday and Miss Vera Munday will be remembered for many years to come for their devotion to the Club and the breed. Our sympathy goes to her family and to her dear friend Mrs Daphne Hillman.
The funeral will be held on Friday 17th August at Poole Crematorium, Dorset at 2.30 pm.
