Obituary - June Freeman

Our Dogs was sorry to learn of the death of Mrs June Freeman, of the Pepsidee Poodle prefix, and wife of Mr Martin Freeman, Secretary of Driffield Championship Show.

June was sadly taken ill after returning from Bournemouth Show and was taken to hospital where she subsequently passed away.

Her funeral is to be held on Thursday August 23rd at Mansfield Crematorium and afterwards at the Masonic Hall, Nottingham Road, Mansfield. The service is to be a celebration of June’s life and a tribute from the world of dogs will be made by Robin Searle.

Martin and June met in 1970, before they became involved in showing or running dog shows. June was to have judged Toy Poodles at Crufts 2008 but had recently withdrawn from her appointment at the Welsh Kennel Club due to health reasons. Her last engagement was in fact at Blackpool 2007.

In recent years her great joy was with her grandchildren, of which there were four and even two great grandchildren.

OUR DOGS sends sincere condolences to Martin and son Michael and daughter Lorraine. We also have our special memories of June and of course Martin having attended many of the Driffield shows in the early days of the society and I would also like to send my personal condolences to the family.

Donations are requested instead of flowers with proceeds going to the British Heart Foundation.

Vince Hogan
