KC offers help to shows

Following the announcement by Mars Petcare that they would no longer provide Pedigree sponsorship for Group and General Championship Showsafter the end of the 2007 calendar, the Kennel Club has agreed to help these shows with an offer of further support.

The Kennel Club expressed its concern about the news of the withdrawal of the sponsorship to the respective Show Committees and to exhibitors last week, whilst thanking Pedigree for their support over many years.

The Kennel Club will offer to provide the standard prize cards and ring numbers at all Group and General Championship Shows for the next year at least, whilst the ongoing situation is evaluated. The announcement was made by Kennel Club Chairman, Ronnie Irving, during his speech at the Welsh Kennel Club Show last weekend.

Said Rosemary Smart, Kennel Club Chief Executive; “The Kennel Club is delighted to be able to offer help to the Group and General Championship Shows at a time when they may need some extra financial assistance.  It is important to the Kennel Club that we continue to promote pedigree dogs and raise their profile to the general public. These shows give the perfect showcase for the world of dogs and provide ideal opportunities for people to learn about dogs and to encourage their future participation.”
