Obituary - Mike Stockman


We are sorry to record to death, last Monday, of Mr Mike Stockman. Mike qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1949 and had been actively involved with dogs all his life.

He spent four years in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps training war dogs before going into general veterinary practice in north London with his late wife Valerie. He also served as President of the British Veterinary Association and was Chairman of the Crufts committee in the late 80s and early 90s.

He judged at the championship show and group level both at home and abroad. after acquiring his first Keeshond in 1947 he continued breeding and showing them until 2000.

Not only did he contribute regularly to veterinary journals and OUR DOGS he also commentated on the Crufts television programme for the BBC from 1995 till 2001.
