Obituary - Mrs Evelyn Worrall (Longnor)
Mrs Evelyn Worrall was a founder member of Midland Counties Poodle Club until her death on Thursday 16th August 2007 at the age of 93.
She was a Life Member and President of the club and was devoted to her husband Percy who died one week before their 40th wedding anniversary.
A prominent breeder of black Miniature Poodles during the sixties and seventies she made up a number of Champions, one could almost say, in spite of herself, as she was hardly a very proficient handler but luckily the sheer quality of her dogs won through.
In males she made up Chs Playboy and Showboy of L but the strength of her kennels lay in her line of lovely bitches. Outstanding were Chs Philippa and Laura-Louise. The Howard-Price’s bought the young bitch Sarah of L which soon became Ch. Montfleuri Sarah of L and amassed a large number of CCs as well as being an All Breed Ch. Show BiS winner. She was the dam of Ch. Tarka of Monfleuri, again a BiS winner at Ch. Shows and he in turn sired the great Ch. Mickey Finn of Montfleuri, one of the immortals in the breed. Certainly a line that bred on.
The MacDougalls acquired Clara of Longnor, who, though not a great winner herself, proved her worth as a brood bitch by producing the first two Jolda Champions, Cinderella and Camilla. Later Evelyn had some useful silver Toys.
For a number of years Midland Counties Poodle Club held their puppy parties in her garden, always a delight and a great deal of fun was derived from these occasions.
A highly successful breeder who loved her dogs. She was a great stalwart of the breed. To her niece’s Evelyn, Patience, and Wendy and nephew Frank and family we offer our sincere condolences.
