New sponsors for National Terrier Club
The Officers and Committee of the National Terrier Club are delighted to announce that Burns Pet Nutrition have kindly agreed to offer sponsorship for our 2008 show, writes Jennie Griffiths.
This will be a new venture for them. They are offering product prizes for all Best of Breed, Best Opposite Sex and Best Puppy winners, rosettes for all Best Puppy in Breed, product prizes for all winners in the Best in Show and Best Puppy in Show competitions and a trophy for the "National Terrier Open Show Dog of the Year" winner.
The sponsorship they have offered equals that provided by Masterfoods at our 2007 Show.
They will have their trade stand by the Best in Show ring at our show and Mr. Burns and his staff will be happy to meet the exhibitors. We thank them most sincerely for their support.
Meet the Sponsors
‘The Secretary, Jennie Griffiths, approached us whilst looking for sponsorship for the prestigious National Terrier Club Show. We were pleased to be able to accept and are looking forward to working alongside the committee to bring about a successful Show in April 2008.
‘Burns Pet Nutrition is owned and managed by the veterinary surgeon, John Burns BVMS MRCVS and his wife Tegwen. During the years that John worked at his veterinary practice he would often recommend that clients avoid feeding proprietary pet foods. His advice was to feed a home-made diet of brown rice, vegetables and chicken, fish or meat sold for human consumption. Clients often had remarkable results with their pets after changing to this diet. Some people, however, felt that preparing food at home for the dog was too daunting a task or they simply did not have enough time. This lead John to develop Burns Real Food for Dogs, a range of complete, dried food.
‘From its humble beginnings in John’s own kitchen, the company now employs around 60 staff at its Head Office and warehouse in Kidwelly, South West Wales. Burns range of Real Food for Dogs, Cats and Rabbits is sold to both retail customers and to independent retailers throughout the UK. There are regional offices in both Scotland and Ireland and we also export to other countries.
‘The company supports numerous charitable activities, both locally and nationally, and has recently set up a charitable foundation. We are keen supporters of animal rescue centres all over the UK and have recently added "The Westie Rescue Scheme" to our list. We also run successful breeder and trainer schemes.
‘Time is passing rapidly and the National Terrier Club Show will soon be upon us.
John Burns and his staff would like to wish you the best of luck with all your preparations for the show and look forward to meeting the exhibitors in April 2008.’
