A Bullmastiff is alleged to have attacked another dog near to its home in Lancashire.

Jacqueline Anderson was with her grandchildren when the dog attacked their Jack Russell, Freeway, causing fatal injuries.

The attacking dog’s owner then arrived on a bike and fled with the dog without saying anything to the shocked family.

Mrs Anderson told OUR DOGS: ‘We had only let him out for a few minutes in the garden. Then all of a sudden this great big dog came from nowhere and went for him and just pulled him to pieces’.

A police spokesman said that the dog is in kennels and its owner will be summoned to court under Section 3 of the DDA.
