BGV Xmas party proves overwhelming success

The new Rescue started by Rose Phillips had its first Christmas Party on 26th November and the support for this inaugural event proved overwhelming.
Over 80 people and their Petits and Grands attended with everyone in the true spirit of Christmas. All dogs wore Christmas hats and some were dressed up in festive dress.
Various games, races and novelty classes took place throughout the day which was judged by Santa Claus. A hot lunch was provided followed by scrumptious desserts organised by Gail Clifton. Lorna Fuhri and Roxy Openshaw ran a huge tombola and raffle. Greta Mycock baked a wonderful Christmas cake for guess the weight. Chris & Lisa Leacy kept the music going all day.
The most popular event for the dogs was the sausage race and the best festive fancy dress competition was phenomenal. The exhibits were of such a high standard it was impossible to choose a winner so everyone received a prize. All dogs were given a present by Santa.
The day raised £600 for Rescue which was excellent. Thanks go to the sponsors Masterfoods, Royal Canin, Wagg Foods, Pascoes, Dodson & Horrell, Dorwest Herbs, James Wellbeloved and Gilbertson & Page. So grateful thanks to them and everyone who worked so hard to make the day such a success for the benefit of our less fortunate hounds.
Due to its success this will now be an annual event along with our Summer Fun Day. Rescue calendars are still available.
