Mrs Dorrie Beech
The passing of Mrs Dorrie Beech at the age of 93 marks the end of an era.
Mrs Beech started her famous Deebees Yorkshire Terrier kennel with Invincia
stock from the great Mrs Annie Swan.
Her first champion was Ch Martini, bred by Mrs Swan, a daughter of Ch
Splendour of Invincia. She also owned and campaigned Ch Deebees Stirkeans
Faustina, bred by Mrs Edith Stirk of the Stirkean kennel and she was a
winner of 23 CCs and was a record-holder for many years.
Mrs Beech was a very good and clever breeder who produced many champions of
both sexes, but she was the breeder who lead the way for the dual purpose
sized champion bitches enabling champion bitches to be bred from.
Ch Deebees BeeBee went BIS at Birmingham National show as well as the Toy
Group at Crufts in 1972; Ch Deebees BeeBee then went to USA where she gained
her American title too. There were Deebees champions in many countries
around the world.
Not just a clever breeder, Mrs Beech was a life member of the Yorkshire
Terrier Club and international championship show judge. In 1980 she judged
the Yokohama Yorkshire Terrier Club show with over 170 dogs entered and she
was President of their club.
Mrs Dorrie Beech truly was a star in her breed and her name will live on
through her dogs.
Her funeral will be at 2pm on 19th January at the Roman Catholic Church,
Hook, Hampshire, and our sympathies go to her daughter Janet.
