THE NATIONAL Gundog Association is to host a Rescue and Rehoming Seminar, believed to be the first seminar of its kind in this country, in Stafford.
Supported by Our Dogs and in conjunction with the Italian Spinone Club of GB, the seminar’s aims are to bring together people in rescue to examine and formulate codes of practice and explore issue such as insurance, tax and charity status and funding, matters which affect all rescue organisations.
The idea was first discussed a year ago, when Secretary Chris Bexon contacted various Gundog rescues to see if they may be interested in participating, and indeed whether they felt such an event was necessary.
The overwhelming response in its favour prompted a meeting of NGA executives, who then decided to organise the event. They associated themselves with the Italian Spinone Club of GB, which had originally suggested the idea.
Speakers have still to be officially confirmed, though the whole event promises to be a must for anyone involved in the process of rehoming.
Ric Dixon told OUR DOGS: “Though initially the seminar was aimed at Gundog breeds, we welcome anyone involved in rescue and rehoming to enable us to all work towards the effective rescue and rehoming of the breeds we love.”
The cost is £15 per person including refreshments and lunch. The venue starts at 10am at Tillington Hall Hotel, Eccleshall Rd, Stafford.
Cheques should be made payable to The National Gundog Association and sent (along with name, address and 9” x “4 SAE TO: Ric Dixon, WallbankFarm, Wallbank Rd, Brahmall, Stockport, Cheshire, SK7 3AP by March 10th.
