New York’s Hotel Pennsylvania, The World’s Most Popular Hotel®, celebrates another year as the Host Hotel for all canine hopefuls participating in the annual Westminster Dog Show.

The 131st Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show takes place on February 12th and 13th 2007 at Madison Square Garden, across from New York’s Hotel Pennsylvania.

The Hotel has a history of hosting Dog Show champions. Last year, 4 out of the 7 group winners stayed at the Hotel, including Best in Show, Rufus.

To mark this special occasion, the property has established a variety of onsite activities and amenities to coincide with the Show, including:

1) In association with the Westminster Kennel Club, the Pennsylvania Hotel will host a live pre-show broadcast satellite feed from the Hotel’s Main Lobby with participants of the Westminster Dog Show. The pre-show feed will give an opportunity for different media market outlets to interview participants from their corresponding local market. The feed will take place in the Hotel Lobby on Friday, February 9th from 11:00 to 1 pm EST.

2) The Hotel will host a “Red Carpet” Pre-Westminster Fashion Show Benefit on Saturday February 10th from 4:30 to 7 pm EST on the 18th floor ballroom. Proceeds from the benefit will go to the Animal Cancer Foundation. “Rock Star” and “VISA”, a male and female Samoyed team, will act as the official host and hostess. The evening will begin with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by entertainment, a silent auction, the fashion show and a live auction.

The Designer Fashion Show, sponsored by 1st In-Line, Inc., will feature gown and tuxedo designs for dogs from Ada Nieves of New York “Pup Cake Studios” and designs for women by Denise Hajjar of Boston.

3) As in previous year’s, the Hotel will again convert its lower lobby ballrooms into what is perhaps the largest in-door doggie spa in all of New York. Located within the great hall of the Hotel, the 1st In-Line, Inc. sponsored Green Room Salon & Spa dog grooming/comfort station offers a variety of amenities these Show participants require: bathing/beauty parlor/salon, exercise area, walking area, and even his and her’s relieving area. This year will again feature the Dog-tor’s Corner, which includes a veterinarian, canine masseuse and an animal communicator!

4) As always, the Hotel will have its Doggie Concierge on-site working hard to attend to all canine requirements (such as handling ‘pup’arazzi interviews and special doggie food orders), a Paw Mall, and a number of other festivities ‘unleashed’ in time for Westminster Dog Show.

“We welcome Westminster VIP’s (Very Important Pooches) with open arms…and paws,” said Steve Leonard, Director of ‘Bark’eting at the Hotel. “Given our unique amenities and year-round pet-friendly accommodations, we are the ideal hotel for Westminster Dog Show guests and year-round travellers with pets.”

Westminster is the oldest, continuous sporting event in America, with the exception of the Kentucky Derby.  The Dog Show is the most prestigious of National Dog Shows and has been held every year despite power shortages, hazardous weather conditions, economic depressions and World Wars.

Since 1919, New York’s Hotel Pennsylvania has been host to millions of visitors in Manhattan.  Extensively renovated, the property has 1,700 rooms and over 90,000 square feet of meeting and adjacent exhibit space. New York’s Hotel Pennsylvania is capable of handling conventions, tours, and individual traveller requirements.  Its location on 7th Avenue at 33rd Street is convenient to the business and fashion districts, as well as the Jacob Javits Convention Centre.

The property is known for having the longest-running telephone number in New York City, immortalized in Glenn Miller’s famous song, “Pennsylvania 6-5000.” Reservations can be made to this number locally 212-736-5000, toll free 800-223-8585, via PDA at mobile.hotelpenn.com or on-line at www.hotelpenn.com.
