Greyhound remembrance weekend planned
- Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd July 2007

NEXT WEEKEND sees the staging of the 2007 Greyhound Remembrance Weekend around the UK.
Commercial greyhound racing in the UK began on July 24th, 1926 at Belle Vue Stadium in Manchester.

Every year, on the nearest Saturday and Sunday to this date, Greyhound Action stages Greyhound Remembrance Weekend, in memory of the hundreds of thousands of dogs that they say have been abused and killed by the greyhound racing industry since that day.

The Weekend is marked by street stalls and demos/pickets on the Saturday and by remembrance ceremonies on the Sunday, including the laying of wreaths and flowers outside greyhound stadiums, in memory of all the dogs that have suffered and been put to death.
