Beach ban lifted

A Winter beach ban on dogs looks set to be lifted by North Somerset Council. The authority says it intends to lift controversial ban after protests from dog owners.

The council says it understands the health and safety reasons behind introducing the ban but says if the review is approved it will give dog owners a second chance to prove they can pick up their dogs' mess.

However the council says if fouling problems occur, the ban will be reinstated immediately.
If the ban is approved dog walkers will be allowed on the beach from the end of October until early spring.
