Owner banned

A Dog owner has been banned from keeping animals for 25 years after starving her dogs so severely one had to be put down.

Frances Gee, of St John Street, Keswick, locked her two dogs in an outhouse in her back yard and left them unfed for two weeks.

They were abandoned without water or bedding and had to live among their own faeces and urine. When RSPCA officers found them, a German Shepherd called Piper, was so ill and emaciated a vet had to put down immediately. The other, a samoyed-type called Cara, was emaciated but survived and has been rehomed in Lincolnshire.

Miss Gee, who is six months pregnant, pleaded guilty to two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal by failing to feed it adequately at West Allerdale and Keswick Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrates also sentenced her to a 12-month supervision order and a curfew order.
