Dog owners warned


DOG owners are being urged to keep their pets under control near the River Annan in Dumfries after a cow was chased into the water and later died.

The startled animal, was left stranded and firefighters had to be called in to rescue it. She died later from heart failure.

The incident, near Annan road bridge, has prompted pleas to dog owners to control their pets and new calls for signs to be erected along the riverbank.
