Anthony heads up Mayhew Clinic launch
ANTHONY HEAD, the popular actor was has starred in Little Britain, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Doctor Who and the perhaps the best remembered coffee ads of all time, those for Nescafe Gold Blend, was delighted to be cut the ribbon at the Grand Opening of The Mayhew Animal Home’s New Community Veterinary Clinic on May 17th.
Animal-lover Anthony took time out of his busy filming schedule to come along to The Mayhew’s North West London premises in time for his official opening of the Clinic.
The Mayhew is one of Anthony Head’s chosen charities: not only is he the proud owner of adopted Mayhew rabbits but his partner – Sarah Fisher – has also held Ttellington Touch workshops at The Mayhew.
The Clinic, with its new operating theatre that includes a state-of-the-art digital x-ray, consultation rooms and pre-op and post-op facilities including separate recovery wards for dogs and cats and a designated Ambulance Bay, marks a substantial advancement in The Mayhew Animal Home’s commitment to providing low cost veterinary services for the community. In the old, cramped facilities in 2006, 1,200 pet owners were assisted with their vet fees – and the new Clinic looks set to increase this figure by at least 30% over 2007.
The Mayhew Animal Home was established in 1886 and is now one of London’s busiest and most effective animal sanctuaries, rescuing and rehoming thousands of animals every year from cruelty and neglect. In addition, The Mayhew runs a highly regarded Humane Education centre. The aim of The Mayhew is to set the standards in animal welfare, and this new clinic will provide unparalleled opportunities to do so.
The Mayhew is a registered charity and is solely dependent on the generosity of its supporters. The new Veterinary Clinic was made possible by the kind donations of many individuals, corporations and trusts whose names can be found on plaques in the reception area.
