Cats and dogs strike a pose with their celebrity owners
DASHING DOGS, cute cats and a charming chinchilla put their best paws forward with their celebrity owners to strike a pose for the 2008 PDSA Pet Pawtraits Calendar. Pin-ups include Hollywood actor and director Sean Astin, star of Lord of the Rings; Dr Who favourite and West End star, John Barrowman; stage and screen hypnotist, Paul McKenna and the ultimate Perfect Housewife, Anthea Turner.
Leading veterinary charity, PDSA, announced that Jason Fraser, one of the UK’s best known press photographers, is behind the lens. Jason can now be counted amongst the illustrious line up of former PDSA Pet Pawtraits photographers, including Penny Lancaster and Lord Lichfield.
The line-up also stars Kate Garraway, with her adorable black and white rescue cat Scamp; Emmerdale’s Adele Silver with her dogs, Misty and Buster, and celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli with his dogs Obie, Missy and Snoopy.
Jason will shoot twelve ‘pawtraits’ to capture the special relationship between the celebrities and their pets. Sales from the calendar contribute directly towards providing free veterinary care for the sick and injured pets of those unable to afford veterinary fees at PDSA’s 47 PetAid hospitals and branches.
Jason began his career as a hard news photographer and was given his press card at the tender age of 15. As a teenager, he had covers of Time, Life and Newsweek magazine and during his distinguished career, has had thousands of front-page covers in the British newspapers and magazines, plus numerous publications around the world.
He has travelled the world covering terrorism, war and famine. He travelled with Margaret Thatcher during her term as Prime Minister and has been a White House photographer, photographing President Reagan in the Oval Office.
He then moved on to photographing high profile celebrities including Mariah Carey, David Bowie, George Michael, Beyonce and Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.
PDSA's Pet Pawtraits 2008 calendar is available for just £4.99 from all 182 PDSA charity shops around the UK, online at www.pdsa.org.uk/petpawtraits and by calling 0800-917 2509.
