Happy Birthday Dave!
On September 5th Kirkcaldy & District Canine Club held a special match in honour of Mr David Balfour to celebrate his 90th birthday. Dave has been involved with the club for over 40 years.
The committee tried to ensure that Dave’s family and friends were there to enjoy the evening with him and even managed to produce a few surprises for him.
These included many former members as well as old friends and representatives from the Scottish Kennel Club – Chris Holmes, the Vice Convener and Wullie Campbell and his wife Agnes.
The hall was packed for the start of the special classes for Baby Puppy, Minor Puppy, Puppy and Junior all of which were judged by Mrs Heather Lockhart.
At the interval everyone enjoyed a buffet contributed by the committee and members.
The President then gave a short address giving everyone a brief summary of Dave’s involvement with KDCC. Dave was then presented with a birthday card, a special Best of Your Breed rosette and a birthday cake on behalf of the club.
After the knockout competition Mrs Lockhart declared the Newfoundland Lossmaig I Have a Dream owned by Mr & Mrs B Caldwell Best in Match and as Reserve Best in Match the Yorkshire Terrier Beechgrove Lucky Strike owned by Mr & Mrs H Easson.
Dave was then asked to present the winner with a new trophy donated by the club to be called the ‘David Balfour Best in Match Trophy’.
The committee and members of KDCC would like to thank everyone who came along to make it such a special night for Dave.
