The German Kennel Club, the VDH, have initiated a new award entitled the Baron von Gingins Memorial Medal which is dedicated to people who have made an extraordinary contribution to the breeding of pedigree dogs in Germany and also to the breeding of German breeds outside the country.
This is the highest possible award given by the German Kennel Club and Zena Thorn Andrews told OUR DOGS, ‘I was delighted to receive such a prestigious award and was made to feel very welcome by all the members of the Executive committee in Dortmund last weekend. The Gala Awards Dinner was a wonderful event and I was pleased to be able to attend to receive the award’.
There were twenty three awards in 2007 and Zena was the only UK representative amongst the winners; in fact the only other non German winner was Hans Lehtinen from Finland who received his award for services to judging.
OUR DOGS congratulates Zena on this marvellous achievement for her work in Mini Wire Haired Dachshunds and also to the VDH for initiating such an innovative scheme.
