RSPCA Pet Adoption Week

The RSPCA is holding its first national Pet Adoption Week (PAW) between Saturday 20 October and Sunday 28 October 2007.

Anyone thinking of getting a pet will be encouraged to visit one of the RSPCA’s many centres and branches throughout the week – and if they find the right match, they could offer a new home to an animal in need.

Every year the RSPCA rehomes around 70,000 animals. They may be unwanted pets that have been dumped, victims of cruelty, or have been handed over to the Society by those whose circumstances have changed. At any one time, the Society has hundreds of animals looking for loving new homes, from large horses to tiny mice – and everything in between!

New RSPCA chief veterinary adviser Mark Evans said: ‘We have hundreds of animals looking for new homes.

Through no fault of their own, many of them have had a tough time. Adopting an animal from the RSPCA gives them a much-needed second chance – and you will be able to enjoy the wonderful feeling of knowing you’ve given a special home to an animal that really needs it.’
