Kiss of life for dog

A prison officer has saved his dying sniffer dog by giving him the kiss of life. Steve Tugwell took the action when he saw his Welsh springer, Frodo, lying unconscious.

Frodo had been play-fighting with another sniffer dog when his jaws became entangled in Frodo's collar causing him to choke. Steve said: ‘I blew three times down the cone and to my amazement I saw Frodo's rib cage started to move. It wasn't pleasant but it saved his life and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.’

The two-year-old dog is already back on duty.
