Wiccaweys need your help
WICCAWEYS RESCUED Border Collies & Working Sheepdogs charity is looking to get mobile. Co-founders of the rescue Sarah Carey and Paul Gill badly need a dog van in order to be able to collect and transport the many rescued dogs they take into their care.
Thanks to the generosity of businessman Steve Tubb, who trades as Doggy Cages, the couple have now got the chance of buying a decent caged van. The only problem is that they need to raise more funds to buy it. The rescue has just over £1000 from the proceeds of its recent Open Day and Show that can be used as a deposit on the new van, but need to raise a total of £3,000.
Wiccaweys volunteer Pauline Barr is co-ordinating the ‘Appeal for Wheels’. Pauline told OUR DOGS: ‘I am asking everyone if you can dig your hands in your pocket and see what change (or notes!) you have that you can spare to make this dream come true for Sarah and Paul (God knows they deserve it!).
‘Just last week, Sarah had to make a run to collect a number of rescued dogs that had just come over from Ireland and it was a very tight squeeze to fit them into her Astra estate. A fully caged dog van is essential for the safety of dogs coming into Wiccaweys.
‘Sarah and Paul are planning some fundraisers - all will be revealed very soon - but obviously the sooner we have the money together the sooner Wiccaweys get the van. If you can help in whatever way and make a donation big or small this would be gratefully appreciated. Hopefully soon we can make Wiccaweys properly mobile.’
Pauline has got the Wheels Appeal off to a flying start by pledging £100 from her own pocket and is hopeful that dog lovers everywhere will be able to make a donation – no matter how small – to help Sarah and Paul continue their excellent work.
If you wish to make a donation to the Wiccaweys Wheels Appeal, please send a cheque made payable to: Pauline Barr, 18 Spencer Road, Long Buckby, Northampton, NN6 7YP. Receipts will be given on request and in this way all the money earmarked for the Wheels Appeal will go direct for wheels
