Latest Challenge for
‘Blind Dave’

DAVE HEELEY, better known as ‘Blind Dave’ is about to embark on his latest fundraising challenge for Guide Dogs… completing 7 full marathons in 7 continents in just 7 days.

Currently training in Rio de Janeiro, Dave started his journey in style from his home in West Bromwich in the Black Country, in a chauffeur driven Bentley heading for Heathrow Airport. Waved off by a noisy group of 40 cheering family and friends, Dave, as ever, is being accompanied on this mammoth trip by his sighted running partner, Malcolm Carr.

The first of the marathons will take place on the Falkland Islands, starting at 1 minute past midnight, UK time on 7th April.

This will start the 7 continents to be covered in Antarctica before moving through South America, North America, Australasia, Asia, Africa and finishing on home soil in London just 1 week later.

Our Dogs will be following Dave’s progress closely and would like to wish him, and Malcolm all the best, as they try to conquer what Sir Ranulph Fiennes describes as ‘Perhaps the ultimate in physical endurance.’

And he should know being one of the only two people to have previously completed the challenge.
