Freya makes it “double dutch” Champions for Kanix Bouviers
Fiona Lambert, OUR DOGS breed correspondent, has had yet more success with her Bouvier, Freya.
Ch Alsadie Freya at Kanix (Dutch Ch/ Ch Quiche’s Douglas at Kanix (imp) x Ch Lena Winnie vd Vanenblikhoeve for Alsadie (imp) ‘Freya’ ticked another box over Easter weekend at the International Dog Show in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. Virtually unbeaten in the ring, Freya who is now only two years old, was Top Puppy and Top Bitch in Breed 2006 and in 2007 was Top Bouvier and Overall Top Dog in the Working Group.
In December 2006 she won her first 2 points ( 4 points required for a champion – 1 point gained from each show except their prestigious shows – the Club Specialty and the Winner in Amsterdam where 2 points are awarded) towards her Dutch title at the Winner Show in Amsterdam where she was Best of Breed (CAC/CACIB) and Group 3 at 14 months of age (her sire was Best Dog).
Fiona told us: ‘She won Best Bitch at Crufts in ’07, doing the double again with her sire who was BOB and then in June she took on the Dutch at their own Club Specialty and won Best in Show (CAC), gaining another 2 points (only one of which she could use towards her title. Freya was then still too young to gain her title as dogs have to be over 27 months in Holland, so her sire Douglas, who was also on 3 points was taken alone to an International show in Zwolle last autumn and he gained his crown – the 1st UK dog to achieve this accolade.
‘Freya’s year (’08) started well with best in show at Boston C S championship show and she continued her winning ways by winning BOB and Group 4 at Crufts, this time with her new kennelmate Gulliver (13 months) taking the other Green Card.
‘Leeuwarden is one of the biggest International Shows in Holland with many UK judges being invited. Siegfried Peter from Germany was judging Bouviers. He had given Douglas his 1st point for his Dutch title and Freya is very much a clone of her sire – so we hoped!
‘Luck was with us and Freya did win the CAC/CACIB and her Dutch crown – only the 2nd UK Bouvier to accomplish this and actually the 1st UK bred dog to do so. Holland is by far the strongest country for Bouviers and the Dutch Crown is very sought after. A fabulous achievement for Freya and so young.’
Congratulations to Fiona Lambert & Freya on your success. Please see Fiona & Freya’s advertisement in Our Dogs, in next week’s issue!
