Basenji bells

THIS DELIGHTFUL picture shows Peter Broadbent with basenji bitch, Avongara Angali,
who is wearing a tradtional hunting bells.
She was brought out of the Congo this February by Mia Lowbeer.
Commonly referred to as “the dog that doesn’t bark,” the Basenji has performed hunting, flushing and pointing duties since the time of the Pharaohs of Egypt.
African Basenjis are often outfitted with either a collar bell, that is worn around the neck or an underbelly bell which is strapped underneath the stomach of the dog.
The bell serves to aid the owner in locating the hunter!
