Ireland’s Current Top Dogs
With the first seven months shows now over the two main sponsored points tables are showing success for two of the Top Kennels in Ireland.
Breeder of the Year
In the OUR DOGS/SHOW DOGS IRELAND Breeder of the Year Competition the Edbrios Kerry Blue Terriers of Philip and Eddie O’Brien and Jarka Poulova have a narrow lead at the top in what has become a hotly contested leader board.
They have had group and Best in Show wins with a number of Edbrios dogs and their success in Puppy Stakes and Puppy Groups has also pushed them to the top.
One of their charges which has been successful for them this year is GB CH Edbrios Amadeus seen here after his BIS win at Swords under the English Kennel Club Chairman Ronnie Irving.
In the current TOP DOG competition sponsored by SHOW DOGS IRELAND it has been a changing name at the top but now one name is stretching into a good lead.
Ashling Connolly’s top winning Bichon Frise CH/INT CH Ashmair The Butler Did It has taken the current number one spot with 2 Best in Shows, 1 Reserve Best in Show and 8 group wins in 2008 alone.

The Admiral is in command at Bangor!
It was a double show weekend in Ireland again last week with Bangor and North Down’s Belfast based event being held on Saturday where June Wall of the Everready Poodles and Rottweilers was making the main decisions.

He was sent forward as the Group 3 winner by Geoff Corish. Taking the Reserve BIS award was Norman, Heather and Coleen Large’s Irish Water Spaniel SH CH/GB SH CH/SWED CH Gatewood Invitation from Coleenville.
‘Take That’ Goes International at Dun Laoghaire!
The second show of the weekend was held at the National Show Centre in Cloghran where the Dun Laoghaire International show was held and sponsored by OUR DOGS.
Elaine Drennan of the Highbriar Dobermanns, Poodles and Min Pins was the BIS judge and it was a popular win for Alan and Theresa Doyle’s Rottweiler CH Warrimead Take That it’s Rottsdale who has been a consistent winner for the Rottsdale team. He was sent through to BIS by Switzerland’s Lisbeth Mach from a very strong Group 2 line up.
‘Hector’ is the kennels second General Championship Show BIS winner and they have recently returned from a Best in Show win at the Belgian Specialty with another of their team.
