New President for BUBA
At the recent AGM of the British Utility Breeds Association Mr Doug kitchener was elected as the president of the Association.
He has had a long connection within the association, formerly serving as chairman from 1990 -1996, when this role was taken over by the late Mr Mike Stockman, and latterly he has served as a vice president.
The chairman was confirmed as Mrs Sheila Jakeman who was relinquishing her position as Treasurer, an office she has held since 1987. Secretary Mrs Meg Purnell Carpenter was unfortunately unable to attend the meeting due to illness, but was re-elected to continue as secretary.
The new treasurer is Mrs Lisa Gregory who has been the Chow Chow representative on the BUBA council for a few years, and has been a helper (dressed as santa) in the office at the championship show for many years. Shelagh Stevenson the very able show manager was re-elected as vice chairman.
The breed representatives who form the council decided at the meeting to make a very generous donation of £500 to the KC charitable trust in memory of Mr Mike Stockman, this charity being one of those which he held close to his heart.
It was reported that the Championship show held at the three counties showground in 2007 had only just managed to break even financially, and the association is now making plans for their return to stafford’s bingley hall, on 6th december 2008.
Stafford had been home to the championship show for many years and exhibitors are already looking forward to returning to those familiar surroundings.
